nancyheadshot“Your content, in your voice, on your schedule.”

Do you have a manuscript? Congratulations! Engaging a developmental editor can save you time and help to make your book catnip for readers. I will partner with you to suggest ways to shape your book for its audience. Expect numerous chances to laugh, no snark, and coaching that can make you a better writer.

Throughout, you’ll retain your own best voice. I’m true to my tagline: your content, in your voice, on your schedule.

I have served as developmental editor for more than a dozen business books, including best-sellers in their categories by Beverly Kaye and Sharon Jordan Evans, and Dick and Emily Axelrod. Those people lived through developmental editing. They even liked the process—as you can, if you’ll allow me to walk with you through your book.

My own award-winning business writing spans publications for corporate clients on effective writing, managing serious illnesses, and human resource management.

  • BA in American Studies: Middlebury College, VT

  • Certificate in Management and Quality Improvement in Multicultural Work Environments: California State University, Fullerton

Your investment for this package is determined by the amount of support requested.

Expect to invest $5000 to $8000 for developmental editing, depending on your manuscript’s length and complexity. First, I’ll read your manuscript (no charge) and tell you what I recommend for our work together. Then, if you decide that I’m your developmental editor, we can arrange for several scheduled payments on a total contract amount, or monthly billing based on my hourly rate of $200, with a deposit of $1000.

Is your heart racing? Developmental editing pays off, I assure you. Your investment in a truly reader-centered manuscript will earn itself back in workshop and speaking fees.
